Travelling with Wegovy or Mounjaro: storage and luggage
How to plan trips with Wegovy or Mounjaro pens, with temperature, documentation and luggage.
The essentials in less than a minute
- The box, presentation and condition of use determine how long it can stay out of the refrigerator.
- They should not be frozen or placed directly on ice or cooling elements.
- On a plane, carry-on luggage with documentation and controlled thermal protection is preferable.
- Before traveling, confirm the exact rule of your presentation and calculate doses, days and margin for delays.
Start by identifying the presentation
It is not enough to know the brand. Wegovy can come in single-dose or multi-dose devices, and the conditions during use are not identical. Mounjaro also has different presentations. Read the box and the leaflet you actually have.

At the airport and on the plane
Carry the medication in your hand luggage. The hold can expose you to extreme temperatures and luggage can get lost. A thermal bag may be helpful, but the medication should not directly touch ice packs.
Airport security and customs rules depend on the country. Check with the airline and destination if you are traveling outside the EU or carrying many units.
Temperature and light
European information indicates refrigeration before use and establishes specific conditions for periods outside the refrigerator. Wegovy should not freeze and should be protected from light. The Mounjaro KwikPen, after the first use, has a limited period at a temperature below the maximum indicated.
If you don’t know what temperature it reached
Don’t guess. Separate the pen, do not use it until confirmed with the pharmacy or the manufacturer and do not rely solely on the fact that the liquid “seems normal.”
Time zone change
A weekly schedule usually allows planning without calculating every hour, but the minimum interval between doses must be respected. Decide before you leave whether you will keep your home day or change it according to official instructions.
A flight delay does not justify advancing, doubling or bringing the dose closer together. Save the calendar to local time and note the last actual administration.
