Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for repeat prescriptions in Spain.

Can I get a repeat prescription in Spain as a tourist?
Yes. If you normally take long-term medication and can provide evidence (for example, a health app screenshot or a photo of the medication box/label showing your name and dose), we can issue a Spanish prescription for a repeat refill.
I forgot my medication on holiday in Spain — what should I do?
Book a repeat prescription appointment and send evidence of your regular medication (name, dose, and frequency). If appropriate, a doctor can issue a prescription sent by email as a PDF with a QR code, valid at pharmacies across Spain and the Spanish islands.
My bag was lost or stolen with my tablets — can you help?
Yes. Book a repeat prescription and send supporting evidence (for example, an NHS App screenshot, your home prescription, or a photo of a medication box label showing your name and dose). We will review your request and issue a Spanish prescription if appropriate.
Can I use my NHS prescription in Spain?
UK/NHS prescriptions are not generally accepted directly at Spanish pharmacies. However, an NHS App screenshot or proof of your regular prescription can be used as evidence so a doctor can issue a Spanish prescription (if appropriate) for your repeat medication.
How do I get a prescription refill in Spain?
If it’s for long-term medication you already take, book a repeat prescription appointment. If you have new symptoms or need antibiotics, you should book an online doctor consultation instead.
Can I get antibiotics through the repeat prescription service?
No. Antibiotics require a doctor assessment. Please book a telephone or video consultation. If the doctor confirms antibiotics are medically needed, we can issue a prescription sent by email (PDF with a QR code).
I think I have a UTI / sore throat / ear infection — should I book repeat?
No. These are new symptoms and require a clinical assessment. Please book a telephone or video consultation with a doctor, even if you recognise the symptoms from previous episodes.
Can I get sleeping tablets on a repeat prescription?
If you normally take sleeping tablets long-term and can provide evidence of your regular prescription, you can book a repeat prescription. If this is a first-time request, you must book a telephone or video consultation for a doctor assessment.
Is morphine or fentanyl available on the repeat prescription service?
No. Morphine and fentanyl are very specially controlled medications and are not available via our online repeat prescription service. These typically require an in-person medical visit with the appropriate controlled prescribing process. Please contact us and we will advise where you may be able to receive help.
How fast will I receive my prescription?
Prescriptions are reviewed the same day. Most repeat prescriptions are prepared within 2 hours of your appointment time, but timing can vary if we need clarification or if services are busy.
How long is a Spanish prescription valid for?
Your prescription is valid for 10 days from the date it is issued. Please collect your medication from a pharmacy within that period.
Is the prescription valid in the Canary Islands / Balearic Islands?
Yes. Our prescriptions are valid at pharmacies across mainland Spain and the Spanish islands (including the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands).
I didn’t receive the prescription email — what should I do?
Please check your spam/junk folder and confirm the email address used at booking is correct. If you still can’t find it, contact us and we will help as soon as possible.
