See a doctor in person in Spain
English-speaking in-person care across mainland Spain:
urgent medical visits to our collaborating hospitals, medical tests
(such as blood tests, scans via the radiology department), and specialist appointments.
Some conditions can be resolved from the comfort of your accommodation
Most common illnesses can be assessed quickly by a telephone or a video consultation, often with advice, treatment, and prescriptions sent directly to your email, which can be used at any pharmacy in Spain.
Urgent or routine in-person appointments
For urgent cases that need to be seen in person quickly, call us now.
For non-urgent in-person doctor or specialist appointments, call us Monday to Friday, 9 to 5.
When an in-person appointment may be needed
- Physical examination: you need to be examined face-to-face by a doctor.
- Urgent treatment: possible stitches, dressings, injections, or immediate in-person review.
- Tests and diagnostics: blood tests, urine tests, X-rays, ultrasound or other scans.
- Hospital assessment: where emergency department review or admission may be needed.
- Specialist care: when a hospital specialist appointment is more appropriate than general practice.
Urgent care, but not a life-threatening emergency
If someone is unconscious, not breathing, or having a clearly life-threatening emergency, call 112 immediately.
For urgent situations such as deep cuts, chest discomfort, swelling after an allergic reaction, persistent vomiting, or a sudden illness needing prompt medical help, please call:

Main areas covered
Will my insurance cover the cost?
In many cases, yes. The hospital normally contacts your insurer directly to request a guarantee of payment.
If approval arrives quickly, you will usually not need to pay anything upfront. If the insurer is slower to respond, a temporary deposit may sometimes be taken.
The hospital usually seeks insurer approval directly before or during admission.
A deposit may be taken temporarily, then refunded according to the hospital process if cover is confirmed.
You can still attend privately and pay directly for the consultation and any additional treatment.

Online consultations work differently
For telemedicine, insurers do not usually issue a guarantee of payment in advance. Instead, you normally pay for the consultation directly, receive your receipt automatically, and then claim reimbursement later if your policy allows it.
