Chlamydia: symptoms, testing and treatment
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection that may not cause symptoms. When present, they may include discharge, burning when urinating, pelvic pain, or testicular discomfort.

Tests and diagnosis
The diagnosis is confirmed with a test, usually a urine sample or exudate depending on the exposure. A medical evaluation allows you to decide which samples and which other STIs should be checked.
Treatment and follow-up
It is treated with antibiotics prescribed after evaluation. Sexual partners may need evaluation and it is important to follow instructions on abstinence, contact notification, and follow-up testing.
When to seek prompt care
Seek urgent care if there is severe pelvic pain, fever, pregnancy with symptoms, severe testicular pain, or rapid worsening.
